Amy Bratten is the Provost, Academic Affairs and Workforce Education for Polk State College. As the Provost, she oversees all for-credit educational endeavors leading to industry certifications, Associate Degrees, and Bachelors Degrees. Along with her administrative duties, Amy also teaches undergraduate Elementary and Early Childhood teacher preparation courses focusing on methods and curriculum for teaching English Language Learners. 


Prior to her Polk State College role as provost, Amy worked at Southeastern University as the Associate Provost after rising through the ranks from teaching in the College of Education to being a department chair, associate dean, then Dean of the College of Education. During her tenure at SEU, Amy led a team in creating and opening Pathways School of Excellence, a lab school for middle and high school students with disabilities; and, Pathways is housed on SEU’s campus in the College of Education. Amy also led a team in creating and opening Link, a Comprehensive Post-Secondary Transition program for students with Intellectual (and other) disabilities who desire an inclusive, residential, or commuter collegiate experience focused on employability, independent living skills, and academic growth. 


Prior to working at Southeastern University, Amy taught middle school ESOL and Language Arts, high school English and ESOL, adult ESOL for a community college, and teacher preparation courses at USF. Amy holds a professional teaching certificate in English (6-12) with an Endorsement in ESOL from the state of Florida. Amy is also a Clinical Education trainer and has developed a Clinical Educator’s Training program through SEU in partnership with the local public school district. 


Amy earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature specializing in Children’s Literature with a Minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Florida. She continued her education earning a Master of Arts degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Central Florida. Amy also earned a terminal degree, Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership specializing in Adult Education, from Nova Southeastern University.
