TPI-US REVIEWER

Amy Hickman is a TPI-US reviewer and contributes to the technical assistance that TPI-US provides to educator preparation programs. She also serves as a Professional Development Facilitator for Tech Teach at Texas Tech University, supporting teacher candidates and site coordinators through the teacher preparation program. She provides professional development training and support to the Tech Teach Site Coordinators and Teacher Candidates within the College of Education. Through partnerships with the surrounding school districts, Amy also provides training and support to Mentor Teachers in co-teaching, instructional competency, and the NIET Rubric. Through the Tech Teach program and the collaboration of all key stakeholders, Amy’s efforts are to prepare highly effective teacher candidates. She is also an inspector for Teacher Prep Inspection-US (TPI-US) participating in teacher preparation program inspections in the United States. Before becoming a Professional Development Facilitator, Amy was a Site Coordinator for elementary, middle-level, and secondary programs and an Instructor for various methods courses. 


Before beginning her work with Tech Teach at Texas Tech University, Amy served as a teacher at Lubbock-Cooper Independent School District. Her experience was teaching special education at both elementary and middle level along with teaching 2nd grade as a general education teacher. She also served as a mentor teacher both to first-year teachers and to teacher candidates. 

 

Amy received her master’s degree in special education with a specialization in Deaf and Hard of Hearing from Texas Tech University in 2013.
