TPI-US REVIEWER

Cynthia (Cindy) Edwards has over 40 years of experience teaching, supporting schools, districts, and educator preparation programs. Her work centers on developing effective, evidence-based, and equitable teaching practices, with a particular focus on intentional instruction for all learners.

Cynthia spent 34 years in the Austin Independent School District, beginning with 18 years as a special education teacher across K–12 settings. In addition to her district work, Cynthia has served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Texas at Austin and Texas State University in San Marcos. Her national work in literacy includes presenting Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) and Early Childhood LETRS, providing opportunities for teachers and leaders to gain knowledge and understanding of evidence-based literacy rooted in the science of reading.

Cynthia holds a bachelor’s degree in both Elementary and Special Education and M.Ed. in Multicultural Special Education, both from the University of Texas at Austin. Additionally, she acquired her language therapist certification shortly after entering the teaching field. Cynthia has been a certified reviewer with TPI-US and an active team member since 2013.
