Katy Ryan

Katy has been a reviewer with TPI-US completing reviews across multiple states within the TPI-US network. She also currently serves as a Literacy Intervention Teacher with the Fort Bend Independent School District outside of Houston, Texas. She works with literacy teachers as well as in Tier 3 instruction with students. 


For over 15 years, Katy has coached and supported teachers and students in literacy instruction as well as in areas of differentiation and DEI as a trainer of teachers, building level administrator, and instructional coach. Katy has designed and implemented district wide phonics curriculum, school wide literacy supports, campus-wide differentiated instruction support, developed a differentiated literacy course, as well as a mentoring program for identified students. She currently supports yearlong residents on her campus to bridge the gap between preparation and practice, ensuring all are day one ready.
Prior to returning to district work, Katy has worked in teacher preparation in the Houston region and as a program manager for a national technical assistance center based out of Texas Tech University. She has supported the integration of evidence based instructional materials within teacher preparation coursework, supported the development of robust residency pathways, as well as a literacy support framework to implement evidence based reading instruction in the Houston region using a “train the trainer” model. Katy also has extensive knowledge of the Texas Administrative Code that governs educator preparation. She uses this knowledge to support statewide initiatives as well as support prospective and current EPPs across Texas. 


She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland, College Park with an emphasis on Science. She received a Master’s of Education in Reading from Lynchburg College, now known as the University of Lynchburg. She also received a Master’s in Education in Educational Leadership from Lynchburg College. She is a licensed teacher in the state of Texas in elementary education with an endorsement in English as a Second Language and holds a Reading Specialist and Principal certificate.
