Leslie Novosel is a national education consultant who provides technical assistance at local, state, and national levels to ensure teachers are prepared to deliver effective literacy instruction and ultimately improve academic outcomes for all students. 


As a faculty member at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, Leslie taught graduate and undergraduate courses on language and literacy acquisition, assessment and instruction, mild/moderate disabilities and dyslexia, evidence-based practices, and grant development and procurement. She was instrumental in developing a master's degree program for preparing teachers for literacy leadership positions in Hawaiʻi public schools. Leslie served as a research assistant on several large-scale national projects to design and deliver professional development on schoolwide multi-tiered systems of support for academics and behavior, evidence-based literacy strategies across content areas, social and emotional learning strategies, full-inclusion, and effective instructional coaching practices. In her early career, Leslie was a Special Education Teacher for students with Mild/Moderate Disabilities, English as a Second Language Teacher, Master Reading Teacher, and District Reading Specialist. She is the recipient of the Travis County Leadership Award for creating a book lending library and reading intervention program for youth in juvenile corrections.

 

Leslie received her bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University, master’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a doctoral degree from the University of Kansas.
